So, not that either of these characters are related in any way other than the fact they’re both Marvel properties, but I’m posting them together because they were gifts for my brother, who I just visited this weekend. Knowing he was/is a huge comic book fan, I wanted to give him some personalized art as a much belated Christmas present. By his request, the characters he wanted were Dr. Doom and Scarlet Witch (having just failed to win the lottery on repeated attempts). They were a ton of fun to do and I always love doing commissions for people, so I wanted to share them. Hope you like them!

Did a character design piece inspired by the new look of Cyclops from the most recent upstart of the Uncanny X-Men.

Inspired by the recent events in the X-Men and Spider-man universe, I decided to sketch a few of the leading ladies from both. I hope to do a new batch just for fun in during the coming week or so. I’d love to hear what characters anyone wants to see me tackle, so please send in your ideas!

I recently contributed to the Marvel Redux project, where modern day illustrators redesigned classic Marvel Universe characters from the handbook they released years ago. You can find all the details along with every amazing artists’ character designs here! http://ohotmuredux.blogspot.com/

Just wanted to share one of my commission pieces because it was of a character I hadn’t heard from in a long while; Static Shock. I remember watching this show back in 2000 when it was introduced. What ever happened to this superhero? He even fought alongside the JLA at one point or another. Maybe the economy got to him and the Justice League had to lay him off? We may never know. - L

I’ll be taking commissions for the Heroes Con either before, during or after the event. If before, I can have the piece ready for pickup at the booth, but any of the above are good. If interested please just contact me at loganfaerber@gmail.com or via twitter @LoganFaerber and I will get right back to you! All the details are broken down here…

Heroes Con Advance Commissions

Heroes Con is a great show to pick up art. There are a ton of artists of all styles there, so there is something for everyone. In fact, Heroes Con has so much going on, it’s hard to do/see it all. So, to make sure you can get the sketch or commission you want, a few of the OOSA artists are taking advance commissions that will be ready for you to pick up at the convention. No waiting and no missing out because the lists are full or you just plain didn’t have enough time to get around to asking for one.

In preparation for the upcoming Heroes Con, I made this pin-up-esque/comic cover piece. I had asked around for various suggestions of characters people would like to see me tackle, and I really loved the idea of Batwoman since I’ve been a huge fan of the recent series and of J.H.Williams III’s art, which is just amazing. However, my take is more of the Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke style of character, who is a bit more abstracted. I’ve decided to include the black and white version as well since I used it to check my values throughout the process, and really fell in love with the more noire-like tone it presented. That being said, enjoy and I hope to see you at Heroes Con this upcoming June!

Finally completed the inking for this massive (22x28in) commissioned piece that depicts the three heads of the JLA sparring with the ruthless Darkseid. I wanted to rein-vision these famous characters rather than re-depict what has already been done. With my style, it ended up as a mixture of Bruce Timm and Paul Pope; two illustrators I admire greatly and am more than honored to have embraced as inking mentors. I would actually love to do more of these and maybe even attempt some in color so that I can have a hand at dry brush texture on a superhero subject matter.

So this idea began a while ago, and I just now got around to doing it. One day, while probably riding on the train, I thought, “How much would it hurt if Superman kicked someone in the balls?” Spurring on that, what makes any nut shot worse is being a kid. And what monster would do such a thing? Superman apparently. Turns out he’s a dick and has become part of the “Injustice League”.
