A few months back while keeping a daily sketchbook with me I decided to do a rendition of Brad Pitt from Inglorious Basterds, making sure to exaggerate his scowl.
After great apprehension to do so, I broke and ended up buying a jumbo (12”x17”-ish) Moleskine sketchbook. The size is truly fantastic and really allows your hand and arm to move freely about the page without any worry of constraint. In order to get this bad boy started, I chose to do an illustration of The White Violin from Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba. If you haven’t done so yet, read that comic now… like, right now.
It took me a while to get around to reading it myself actually. Since it came out in the years of my college education, I didn’t allow myself the opportunity of reading it then, although I’m sure it would’ve helped inspire me and my studies in some way, especially considering it was art school. Looking back on it, I didn’t even have good excuse; even the library next door to my house had a copy. In the end, I bought one for myself to enjoy at my own leisure in the comfort of my own home, and man did I enjoy it. So in short, I recommend everyone give it a chance, or at least check it out several times from your library so that it at least makes you feel guilty for not reading it.
On another note:
I initially acquired this massive sketchbook in order to travel with it, but I had not anticipated its scale to that of my backpack. So I’m not quite sure how transportable it will ultimately be, but I plan on taking it for a spin with me to California this Friday for some good old life drawing exercises. If all goes well, I will return home with a more complete and hopefully intact sketchbook. Otherwise this White Violin sketch might be the one and only drawing attributed to this new sketchbook’s name (Heraldo?) that sees the light of day
Enjoy this piece at least and with fingers crossed let’s hope there’s more to come!

I was asked to do a screen-print poster design for the new Tomb Raider game, which was particularly exciting to tackle since I’d been looking forward to this release over the past year or so. I decided to highlight the landscape and the island rather than a specific character since it’s hazards are a character themselves and help to define Lara this time around.
You can see all 17 designs of the great posters by an amazing roster of illustrators here:

I’ve also attached the preliminary composition and value study I did.

Did a character design piece inspired by the new look of Cyclops from the most recent upstart of the Uncanny X-Men.
Inspired by the recent events in the X-Men and Spider-man universe, I decided to sketch a few of the leading ladies from both. I hope to do a new batch just for fun in during the coming week or so. I’d love to hear what characters anyone wants to see me tackle, so please send in your ideas!
Since doing the triptic group of X-Men character sketches, I decided to do another, but this time of Batman related characters; Batman, Robin, and Batgirl. This was inspired by the most recent New 52 series that DC released last year, which has continued to be stellar. Maybe someday I’ll get to work on Batman, for real :(
Over the past couple of nights I was inspired by the Uncanny X-Force series to sketch some of my favorite X-Men characters; none of which are actually in the X-Force. These were a lot of fun and I would love to do a few more characters, but I’m not entirely sure which ones yet. I’ll probably start with Nightcrawler, but I’m totally open to suggestions if anyone would like to see my rendition of a character from X-Men. Enjoy!

A little guy I’ve titled “Skull Kid”, which I did for fun last night. Feel free to come up with some fan fiction - I’d love to read what sort of stories this character inspires :)
Two quick character sketches I did in the past two days just for fun. I usually try to do a sketch at night before going to bed - maybe 15-30 minutes each.
A quick character sketch I did a few nights ago before going to bed. Just wanted to do something for fun.
I was contacted by the Drawing Dreams Foundation over the past weekend, who asked if I would be interested in contributing two line drawings for their upcoming coloring book. It’s a zoo themed coloring book, but they wanted all of the animals to be imaginary blends of preexisting animals. Below each illustration would be a blank space designated by a line where the kids can give the creature a name. The coloring books will be donated and distributed to hospitalized children and sold online, at selective retail venues, and at hospital and museum gift shops. Proceeds from online and retail sales will help fund printing costs and distribution to children’s hospitals. I’m very pleased to have helped with such a great idea and can’t wait to see what the kids think or what other creatures might develop for the final book release in December. A few days ago I was commissioned to do an illustration of Etrigan the Demon, whom I’ve never drawn before, so it was pretty fun to tackle a new character. He requested it to be colored. I did a few sketch ideas of how to go about tackling such a character, such as jumping or using his powers, but ultimately I decided to go a more simple route with a portrait. If I did it again however, I might tackle the jumping composition.
For those interested I’ve included the line work drawing done with india ink and a brush, then a grey scale of the colors applied as a value study and finally the finished colored piece. It’s always nice to take a break from doing largely digital work in order to return to various traditional mediums. That reminds me, I’m always open for commissions, so if anyone else is ever interested, please feel free to contact me at loganfaerber@gmail.com. I’d be happy to discuss any and all ideas.

This was a commission I received from Shelli Paroline whilst at Heroes Con this past weekend. Yes, it’s Julia Child as a spy. It took me a while to really grasp and conceive how this could work, but I think I managed. Check out her Adventure Time comics and other work here http://shelligator.tumblr.com/
Just wanted to share one of my commission pieces because it was of a character I hadn’t heard from in a long while; Static Shock. I remember watching this show back in 2000 when it was introduced. What ever happened to this superhero? He even fought alongside the JLA at one point or another. Maybe the economy got to him and the Justice League had to lay him off? We may never know. - L
So, not that this is a finished piece by any means (but it is for an undisclosed project I’m working on), I thought it was pretty funny on its own, so I decided to do a quick post today. This is actually one layer of three in the final piece, but for now, enjoy this awkward segment.
