Find me on...

This piece was my contribution to the art collective Brand New Nostalgia this week, whose theme was “Psychobilly Culture”. I initially began a piece that was much different than this and was more focused around the idea of gambling, but it shifted during the process to this concept. Based on feedback, I would like to have this available as a print at cons, so please let me know if this is something you’d be interested in. Enjoy!

You can also get prints of it here, http://society6.com/aerodynamicmountains/Psychobilly-IzG_Print including t-shirts and iPhone cases.

Here’s a preview of a single page spread from issue 2 of “Re-pro-duct”. The second issue is fully written and is almost completely inked, so it won’t be long before you can get your hands on both of the first issues. Each comic is 24pgs, so there’s a lot to see, meet and enjoy! Check them out! Thanks everyone!

Once again you can download our first issue for FREE from the 215Ink App found for the iPad in the iTunes store! ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/215-ink/id449585609?mt=8 ) The printed edition of the first issue will be available soon and I will be selling and signing copies at the upcoming Heroes Con in North Carolina!

Finally completed the inking for this massive (22x28in) commissioned piece that depicts the three heads of the JLA sparring with the ruthless Darkseid. I wanted to rein-vision these famous characters rather than re-depict what has already been done. With my style, it ended up as a mixture of Bruce Timm and Paul Pope; two illustrators I admire greatly and am more than honored to have embraced as inking mentors. I would actually love to do more of these and maybe even attempt some in color so that I can have a hand at dry brush texture on a superhero subject matter.

Early next year I will be in a gallery show based on the theme of The Wizard of Oz. At first I was tempted to draw flying monkeys, but in the end, who isn’t. Even James Jean drew flying monkeys for Fables a few years ago. Instead, I decided to design a character not yet depicted aside from interior illustrations within the original books; The Wicked Witch of the East. While we all know the story, appearance and conclusion to The Wicked Witch of the West (I should know, my mom was her for Halloween one year), we aren’t as familiar with the story and appearance of the East’s, besides she wore striped socks, oddly bright shoes and was found dead below Dorothy’s house. And what was it even, that distracted her long enough to allow for an entire house to crush her?

For this piece, I decided to answer a few questions of my own and raise a few new ones. I for one assume she was leaning down for some loose change because she was most likely greedy and attracted to small shiny objects (aren’t we all?). Also, I thought since she was the sister of The Wicked Witch of the West, she too would have green skin, if not a bit lighter. And maybe instead of a broom she just had a staff with a bell on it. Certainly her cloak is much more billowy and less dry cleaned, but who’s to say? These are just my thoughts.

The gallery will be from Feb. 8th - 17th / Reception is Feb. 15th :

I’ve finally finished the Conan comic’s color adaptation. I’ll be displaying it at two galleries in Boston this October; one in Waltham and one near the Fenway. I’ll update as to where they are as the time draws near.

The first page to a four page comic that I am working on for my upcoming gallery show at Guilt Night Club in Boston. Stay tuned for the final colored versions; please stop by for the show to see the originals of these and a lot more pieces of my work. Thanks again for all the support. It’s an all night extravaganza of art, music and fashion; you can find out more as well as buy your tickets here http://www.rawartists.org/boston/fusion

All right. So I’ve made a few changes to finalize the comic. There is now a new font and a gray tone. This is how the comic will look once produced and up for presenting at comicon. Thanks for the support.

In order to take a break from doing the children’s work, I decided to have my hand at doing a portrait. Not one which represents my appearance, but rather my feelings and undisclosed inner sanctum that only seems to shine through within my art, and even then it’s just the tip of the iceberg. This portrait, “Embodiment of Self and the Reflection of Doubt” gives visual representation to what naturally occurs in my imagination. There’s a very faint hint of anything resembling a classic portrait, but I feel that it is more true to me than a clear profile. That which lies on the surface merely conceals the truth from within, and this is that shadow of doubt that resides there. I plan to add color and texture as soon as I can, but until then I wanted to disclose the pure black and white ink drawing, which is a whole world apart from the digitally colored piece.
